In 1994 Blue
Rhino began with founder Billy
Prim’s idea to build a national propane tank exchange program
that could capitalize on growth in gas grill sales and the growing

designed innovative products with value-added features that gave rise
to his new brand. It was named Blue Rhino, after the majestic,
endangered animals Prim came to admire on a trip to Africa. Today, Blue
