What a great purchase, I have asthma and I was unable to use a real wood burning fire pit but my husband and I rent and did not want to spend $4000 on a full on backyard fire pit. We also do not have a natural gas line run from the house so the propane option was our only route. We found this pit for a very reasonable price, it was mobile if we needed to move it and it was propane able.
We were not that thrilled with the lava rocks and the fake logs so we wrote the manufacturer and asked if we could use glass on the pit, they told us not recommended because of the igniter and not tested.
When we got the pit it did take the well warned 3 hours to assemble it but not too difficult. Then we tried a few things, we removed the barrier around the temperature gauge and pushed it up as high as it could go. This brought the tip of it to the surface. Then we filled it with all glass, no sand. It looks beautiful and we have been successfully using it with no issues for a few weeks. The ONLY thing that you need to know and be ok with is that you can NOT use the ignitor. You must light the glass with a clicker or match when you turn on the propane, this is ok with us and we love it. I will try to attach a picture for you all. This works fine and we love it!
