Jeffersonian Rain Gauge
Measure
rainfall and add old world charm to your garden or patio with this
stately brass and glass rain gauge inspired by the early inventions of
Thomas Jefferson. Whether you live in a relatively dry or wet climate,
this elegant, solidly constructed, easy-to-assemble Jeffersonian rain
gauge makes measuring precipitation fun.
It's at the top of our list of decorative rain gauges for its
attractiveness and clever design. As rain collects in the glass vial,
the float rises, moves a lever attached to the pointer and causes it to
sweep down the large, easy-to-read dial. Rainfall is measured at 1/10"
intervals from 0 to 5.5". Empty by simply lifting the vial out of its
holder, sliding it down to remove the float, and pouring the rainwater
out.
The solid brass and glass Jeffersonian stands 31" high and can be
comfortably viewed from indoors. Its beauty only increases as its brass
elements weather to an antique patina over the years. This classic rain
gauge is crafted by Conant Custom Brass Inc,
makers of the world's finest collection of traditional outdoor weather
instruments. Guaranteed for life.
Each rain gauge includes two 14 inch brass rods plus a pressure treated wooden stake for a total length of 42 inches, as well as a hanger bolt for optional installation on a post fence or deck rail. Total height with hanger bolt installation is 14 inches.
