Earthmaker Aerobic Composter

I have now been using this composter for over three months and can definitely state that it works. That said, the compost doesn't just automatically fall from the top chamber through to the middle 'digesting' chamber and then to the bottom chamber by itself. It does take some pushing and pulling to make it all happen and you must not be afraid to get your hands/gloves dirty in the process. My experience tells me that lots of common garden earthworms work best to start and sustain the process. It also helps to buy a small hand rake to use to move the composted material to the front opening of the lowest chamber where you can use a shovel to scoop it out. Since this is the first composter I have ever used I can't say it is the best of its kind, but it does work.

We've only had it for a few months and we don't have soil quite yet. I don't know what our Wisconsin winter will do, but appears that all is working as it is supposed to be so far, and no smell. I like the fact that you can feed it when you need to adding fresh food scraps to the top without affecting the other two chambers. I like that we are teaching our daughter better ways to save, reuse, and recycle.

I put the unit together in less than an hour, including unpacking it and setting it in place. The assembly instructions are excellent, and MUST be followed carefully for good results. No tools were used in assembly.

I just love my Earthmaker Composter. I now feel good about recycling my food scraps and not having to just throw them in the garbage. I know that with the compost that my �Earthmaker� creates, I will have healthier plants and shrubs. And I also feel good that I am not contributing to the greenhouse effect.
