Off-set Umbrellas, Side-post Umbrellas, & Cantilever Umbrellas

An offset umbrella is an umbrella with a canopy that is attached to a horizontal arm that is connected to a vertical post that is off to one side of the umbrella canopy. The umbrella does not have a center pole and the area under the canopy is free of any obstructions. Offset umbrellas are also called side post umbrellas or cantilever umbrellas.

If you have a large rectangle table that needs to be shaded, then a two post offset umbrella provides the maximum shaded area with the fewest obstructions. Offset umbrella posts often require a very heavy weight to secure the freestanding base in place if some other permanent fixed mounted base isn’t used to secure the umbrella. Offset umbrellas are perfect for shading benches, pools, hot tubs or other spaces where a traditional center post umbrella won’t work.
